Sli/crossfire with different RAM memory SIZE

Sli and crossfire as you know, are two technologies that support the use of multiple GPUs on a PC connected with bridge (bridge).
This technology is very recent and particularly uncommon in the world of gaming because of the high cost that it can 'lead and energy expenditure.

I have been asked if it is possible to connect two video cards of the same model but from different manufacturers or different amount of RAM.
Given the fact that SLI / Crossfire is already in itself a delicate collaboration, for maximum compatibility it is always better to install the same card model from the same manufacturer.
With different manufacturers should not have any real problems, obviously some minimal performance hit.

While video cards with different amount of RAM is not recommended to be connected in SLI / Crossfire, you could very easily limit the card with more memory. For example, if we have a 4GB card and the other 2GB will be used only the quantity common maximum, because this two cards do no more than to process the same data, a draw frame equal, the other odd-numbered frame, so that by 2 could not be in step with that of 4 by restricting the latter.

Note: You must always see if it is convenient to do crossfire / sli, if too old should change the data directly, instead of investing it in a second tab. With two cards you will never go twice, mind you!
